Training and background

Anine has been practicing as a psychologist for the past 24 years. She holds four degrees from the University of Pretoria: B.A., B.A. (Hons) in Psychology; M.A. in Counselling Psychology, and a M.Sc. in Medically Applied Psychology (through the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Health Sciences). She completed her psychology internship at 1 Military Hospital in Pretoria and thereafter registered with the HPCSA as a Counselling Psychologist (Registration number PS 0072605) in 2001.

Until 2008, Anine was employed full-time in various settings while concurrently working as a general practitioner in part-time private practice (BHF practice number 0046450). She began her career in the Department of Correctional Services, working as a psychologist in two different prisons. Subsequently, she was appointed as an Employee Assistance Practitioner at the University of Pretoria. After three years, she took up a position as a Senior Psychologist in the Department of Health (Health Service Executive) in Co. Tipperary, Ireland. Anine returned to South Africa at the end of 2007 and has since been in full-time private practice in Waterkloof Glen.

​​Therapeutic approach

Anine has met clients from diverse backgrounds, received training in various psychotherapeutic approaches, and gained experience in different areas of psychology practice. This has led to her holistic approach in assisting and empowering clients to live more meaningful lives. She emphasizes the importance of physical wellness alongside psychological well-being, encouraging clients to take responsibility for their overall health.

In addition to individual therapy, Anine has worked with groups and conducted psycho-educational workshops on topics such as depression, stress and trauma in the workplace, grief and loss, and managing burnout.

 

Anine has a strong interest in Health Psychology and also assists clients dealing with issues related to fertility as well as pregnancy loss and grief. She also facilitates a fertility support group.

She is also a certified TRE™ (Trauma Release Exercises) MBTI™ (Myers Briggs Type Inventory) practitioner.

Committed to continual professional development, Anine regularly attends continuing professional development (CPD) activities to enhance her skills and knowledge.
